We’ve shared this stat before, but it bears repeating:
774 million adults (age 15 and up) cannot read or write, with two-thirds of these adults (493 million) being women.
Here at Make The Rest Up, we believe in helping women all over the world get the education they deserve by taking something that has historically been seen as superficial and turning into something not only beautiful on the outside, but meaningful on the inside. Every month we will feature a charity that is focused on helping further women's literacy and education to donate a portion of our proceeds. This month, we are featuring Girl’s Inc.
Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, providing more than 140,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. The organization provides hands-on, research-based programs to provide girls with the skills and knowledge to set goals, overcome obstacles, and improve academic performance. Informed by girls and their families, Girls Inc. also works with policymakers to advocate for legislation and initiatives that increase opportunities for girls. At Girls Inc., girls grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
As a former Girl’s Inc women in business program participant, I know first hand how much these programs can make a huge difference. In fact, I made my very first business plan at the program I attended! I’m so happy to be able to give back to such a great cause. Don’t forget to book your private rental to help us support #badassbossladies!
What are some other great charities we should consider giving back to?
